Most body shops will not take a Tesla, and most independents will not take an electric vehicle at all. This one does both.
The battery pack is part of the structure, the repair procedures are specific to the vehicle, and the panels are not always steel. Work here has gone down to the bare frame rail and back.
It is not that the work is impossible. It is that the car comes apart differently, and a shop has to know where it is not allowed to cut. Most decide it is easier to turn the job away.
Parts are sourced for the repair the car actually needs, rather than the repair being shaped around whichever parts are quickest to get hold of.
If it has been hit and it also needs mechanical work, it does not need to go anywhere else.
