Hail Damage Repair

Hail is the one kind of damage where a car can be covered in dents and still have perfectly good paint. That changes what the right repair is.

Most hail does not need paint

If the finish is unbroken, the dents are pushed out from behind the panel and the factory paint stays on the car. That matters for resale, because original paint is original paint and no refinish is ever quite the same. It is also faster and it costs less.

Where it does need paint

Larger stones crease metal, break the finish, or hit an edge where there is no access from behind. Roof rails, hoods with bracing underneath and aluminum panels all limit what can be pushed. Those panels get repaired conventionally and refinished.

Storm claims

Hail is a comprehensive claim, so in most policies it does not carry the same consequences as an at-fault collision. The estimate is written per panel and per dent count, which is why two cars from the same storm can be quoted very differently.

While the car is here

One shop, both halves.

If it has been hit and it also needs mechanical work, it does not need to go anywhere else.
